Unable to load ics over network

Jan 31, 2011 at 1:19 PM

I'm trying to sync the gadget with a bunch of ics located on our local network.
However the gadget fails at loading all of them.

I'm using the browser button to locate the ics I want to load.
I end up with something like this : "\\server\Calendars\my calendar.ics"

When clicking Ok, I get an error message saying "Unable to load the calendar "\\server\Calendars\my calendar.ics"

Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks a lot !

I haven't test it before. I'll take a look at this issue. Thank you

Thanks a lot.

Tell me if you need a beta tester!

Hi, I've made some tests and gadget seems to work with ics files in the network. But during the testing I've discovered another bug causing the gadget in some cases to show an error message when you try to load an ics file. It should be fixed now in the last revision in the source control. I very appreciate your offer to be a beta tester it would be very helpful to me. So if you don't mind, could you plase check the last revision if it works for you? (Just go to Source Code section and download the last submitted version.) I'll let you know when I make some changes in the gadget that would be needed to test. Thank you!

Thanks for that quick fix. I will test your latest release next Monday because I need to be at work to access the ics over the network.
I'll post my feedback in this thread.

Ok it's working: no error message and event correctly displayed.

However I have another request : some of the shared ics are read-only and it look like those ones are not loaded nor displayed by the widget. I'am almost sure it's a permission issue since my own calendar in the same directory works fine.

EDIT: it has nothing to do with permissions: I swapped the calendars and it appears that the only one that is loaded is the first one.

My calendar list looks like this:

Hi, hopefully it's fixed now. Please check the last commit in the source control... Thanks

Perfect! One last issue, I think you had a problem with character encoding when cut and pasting translation. All the accents of the French one are wrong.

Here is a clean one:

    French translation for Windows Live Calendar Gadget
    By François Périgny, October 2010.

document.gTexts = new Array();

    gTexts["summary"] = "Titre";
    gTexts["location"] = "Lieu";
    gTexts["start"] = "Début";
    gTexts["end"] = "Fin";
    gTexts["description"] = "Description";
    gTexts["alarm"] = "Alarme";
    gTexts["tomorow"] = "demain";
    gTexts["today"] = "aujourd'hui";
    gTexts["h"] = "h";
    gTexts["m"] = "m";
    gTexts["s"] = "s";
    gTexts["d"] = "j";
    gTexts["before"] = "avant";
